Common Questions

Everything you need to know before you head to the roof of the world

Is the Everest Base Camp trek difficult?

EBC is considered a major high-altitude trek. While it doesn't involve technical climbing, it requires good physical fitness and mental stamina. You'll be walking 5–7 hours a day at altitudes where oxygen levels are significantly lower. We recommend 3-4 months of cardio and strength training prior to the trek.

What is the best time for the EBC trek?

The best windows are Spring (March to May) and Autumn (late September to November). Spring offers blooming rhododendrons and warmer days, while Autumn provides the clearest skies and most stable mountain weather for iconic views.

How do I get to the trailhead?

The trek starts with a scenic 35-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla's Tenzing-Hillary Airport. Due to air traffic, flights sometimes operate from Ramechhap (a 4-hour drive from Kathmandu) during peak seasons. We handle all flight logistics and transfers for you.

What happens if I get altitude sickness?

Our guides are trained in Wilderness First Aid and monitor your oxygen levels daily. We follow a strict "climb high, sleep low" protocol with two built-in acclimatization days. If symptoms of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) persist, we arrange an immediate descent and, if necessary, a helicopter evacuation.

Can I charge my electronics and use Wi-Fi?

Yes, most teahouses offer charging facilities and Wi-Fi for a small additional fee (usually $2–$5). We recommend bringing a power bank and a local SIM card (Ncell or Airalo) for better connectivity in lower regions, though service becomes spotty above 4,000m.

Is the water safe to drink?

You should not drink tap or stream water directly. We recommend using water purification tablets or a LifeStraw. Bottled water is available but discouraged to reduce plastic waste in the National Park. Boiled water can be purchased at teahouses.
